Namen - Purpose

Akademija 2021 v Novem mestu

Kazalniki so razdeljeni v štiri glavne teme: ponudba, povpraševanje, ekonomija in trajnost.

Academy 2021 in Novo mesto

Academy 2021 is a sensible continuation of the Virtual Academy 2020: Let’s digitize the cultural heritage materials of Novo mesto. It is organized by the Novo mesto Cultural Heritage Promotion Committee.

Digitization is the process of converting information into a digital (i.e. computer-readable) format. The result is the representation of an object, image, sound, document or signal (usually an analog signal) by generating a series of numbers that describe a discrete set of points or samples. Digital heritage is the use of digital media in the service of understanding and preserving cultural or natural heritage. The Charter on the Preservation of Digital Heritage of UNESCO defines digital heritage as embracing “cultural, educational, scientific and administrative resources, as well as technical, legal, medical and other kinds of information created digitally, or converted into digital form from existing analogue resources”. The digitization of cultural heritage serves to enable the permanent access to artwork ranging from literature to paintings. European Commission is supporting the digitization of cultural heritage.

The cultural heritage digitization can be measured. The indicators are divided in four main themes: supply, demand, economics and sustainability. The 2021 Academy raises questions about supply: How can the available digitized cultural heritage be exploited for the ePromotion of Novo mesto? The Academy 2021 is a contribution to the efforts of digitization as one of the priorities of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of Europe in the second half of 2021.

Representatives of organizations that have significantly digitized cultural heritage already, and have interest in inter-organizational eCollaboration, are invited to the program.
